ClayOS Lab

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about co-creation, feasibility, and how ClayOS Lab works for buyers and makers.

For buyers

What is ClayOS Lab?

A co-creation space for custom handmade pieces. Instead of describing what you want in a long back-and-forth, you shape your idea directly on a real maker's work, see an instant AI preview, and only then send the request to the maker. It closes the gap between what you imagine and what the maker can actually make.

Is the preview the final product?

No. The preview is an AI sketch to align your idea with the maker before anything is made. Your piece is handcrafted by a human, so it will carry the natural variation and soul of handmade work — close to the preview in intent, not a pixel-perfect copy.

What do the green / amber / red dots mean?

That's the feasibility check. It's honest about what the maker can truly deliver: green means makeable as-is, amber means makeable with a small change (we suggest one), red means it's outside this maker's craft — so you find out before you order, not after.

What happens after I co-create?

Your request goes to the maker as a lead. The maker reviews it, sends you a price and a note, and you decide whether to accept. Once you accept, it becomes an order — and you can follow its progress, including real photos of your piece being made.

Will my piece look exactly like the preview?

It will follow the same idea, colours and details you co-created, confirmed as feasible by the maker. But it's made by hand — small, beautiful differences are part of the value.

How is my data used?

We use your name and email to process your request and let the maker contact you about your order. We ask for your consent before you send a request. See the Privacy Policy for details.

For makers

What does ClayOS Lab do for me?

It turns vague custom requests into clear, feasible briefs — and lets you keep the customer. Buyers co-create on your pieces, the feasibility check protects you from impossible asks, and you reply with a price. You stay in control of the relationship and the craft.

Do I have to accept every request?

No. You set your capability guardrails (forms, finishes, techniques, what you never do). The feasibility check uses them to filter asks, and you still choose to quote or decline each lead.

Does the AI replace my craft?

No. The AI only sketches the buyer's intent so you both start aligned. You finish the piece, your way. Your style stays yours.

Who keeps the customer relationship?

You do. ClayOS Lab doesn't sit between you and your buyer or take over the conversation — it hands you a qualified, feasible lead.

How do buyers find my co-creation page?

You share it where you already sell — a link in your Instagram bio, a QR at a fair, an embed on your site. Your audience, your channels.

How does pricing work?

There's a free tier (10 previews/month), pay-as-you-go credit packs, and a Studio plan with the full operating system. Credits are only spent when a preview is actually generated — feasibility-first means none are wasted. (Pricing is illustrative during this preview.)

General

Which AI does ClayOS Lab use?

We use Top-Tiers AI models to generate previews and to read free-text requests. Crucially, the feasibility check is not AI — it's deterministic logic based on each maker's stated capabilities, so it's consistent and honest.

Is this a finished product?

ClayOS Lab is an early MVP, built during the SheBuilds on Lovable program. Things will keep improving — your feedback genuinely helps.

How do I get in touch?

Through the Contact page. We read everything.
